Haigh Hall Country Park.

We’ve had a fun filled few days visiting Mama again this weekend. As well as our theatre trip to see Cinderella ballet we visited Haigh Hall country park in Wigan and we all agreed it was a fantastic day out.

I usually avoid anything that may attract a large gathering of children on weekends or school holidays because I’d rather not spend all day queuing and school aged kids are too giddy for M and he doesn’t get a look in. But I can’t keep him away from other people forever.

It’s free entry just a few £ for parking. We headed straight to the heaving playground. I can’t usually last more than twenty minutes at the park, M will have one quick go on the slide before I’ve had enough of lifting him on and off everything and bribe him away with an ice cream. No bribery required at Haigh Hall it was huge and we all had a ball. I wondered if my youthful look would let me get away with a quick go on the zip wire but me and Mama had a go on a bouncy swing and M couldn’t even look at us so didn’t want to embarrass him further.

We paid £1 each for a ride on the steam train which was well worth it to see M’s face. He even snuck a sit down on a golf buggy and saw a real life digger. Life made.

They also had an adventure golf course which we’ll definitely be having a go of next time as well as a high ropes course both for a small charge.

We could easily have spent a full day there but as it started to get a bit chilly we headed home for our chippy tea which was all I’d thought about all day.

We had a great day and would thoroughly recommend a visit.
